About

Brent in the KA100 at Apex Motorsports Park

One dad, one kid, one year in.

My son asked to try go-karts. Six months later he was on a national grid, twenty-five karts wide, ten years old. Somewhere in there I bought a kart of my own, learned to jet a carburetor badly, and stood on a podium at fifty.

Along the way I couldn’t find the one thing I needed: a plain map of how this sport works in Southern California. Which leagues, which tracks, what it costs, what happens next. It existed in pieces on a dozen websites, forum threads and the heads of people in the paddock who were generous with it. This is me writing it down.

Nothing here is for sale. No team, no shop, no sponsor. Dates and prices come from the organizers’ own pages and I try to keep them current, but I get things wrong. When I do, tell me, and I’ll fix it and say so.
